A Letter from the Bush - The wildlife, the nature and the people of Tanzania will change your life. They really changed ours. Tanzania has become such a part of us. It’s where we feel so at peace, where we feel such warmth and such a connection to nature. Whenever we’re here, it just feels like home. We built the company wanting to make sure guests like you feel at home here. If you came to our house back in the U.S., we would welcome you at the door, take your bags, offer you a drink and show you around. We’d learn about each other. We’d see the sights and have fabulous food and great laughs. We’d make sure you felt welcomed. We think about that when we’re here in Tanzania.
When you come here to this beautiful wilderness and you stay in our Nyumbas, which is the Swahili word for home, we want you to feel the generosity of the Tanzanian people. We want you to feel that sense of warmth, to look around, relax, take in the incredible diversity of wildlife and feel like you’re part of something – that you belong here. We’ve been here since 1981. We love this place. That’s why we devote ourselves to Tanzania and only Tanzania – to labors of love like our safari and Kilimanjaro ground operations and Gibb’s Farm, which we are so proud won Travel + Leisure’s Best Safari Lodge in Africa for the second year in a row. It’s also why we empower our guides, many of whom have been with us since the beginning – people we consider family. And it’s why we thought carefully about our impact on the land, animals and communities here.
We partnered with the African Wildlife Foundation and Focus on Tanzanian Communities so your experience becomes a force for good. We’ve been here so long and know this country and her people so well, we feel deeply committed to preserving all that Tanzania has to offer for generations to come. So, we want you to join us. It’s our home, your adventure. Karibu nyumbani kwetu, (welcome to our home) Judi Wineland & Rick Thomson, Co-Founders, Thomson Safaris
